Privacy Policy

Our commitment to handling your information with care and transparency.

Effective date: June 2025  —  Politique de confidentialité en français

1. Organization Identity

This Privacy Policy applies to the website mywaypointdigital.ca, operated by MyWaypoint Technologies Inc., a Canadian corporation. MyWaypoint Digital is a professional services brand of MyWaypoint Technologies Inc.

For privacy inquiries, please use the contact form on this website or write to us at the address provided in Section 20.

2. Scope of This Policy

This policy describes how we handle personal information collected through the mywaypointdigital.ca website. It does not apply to the websites of our ecosystem partners (MyData101.ca, MyDataTools.ca, MyCleanData.ca, MyGISData.ca, MyDataOnDemand.ca), which have their own privacy practices.

The demonstration websites accessible from our Samples section (demo1 through demo5) are fictional portfolio examples and do not collect any personal information.

3. Information Collected Through the Contact Form

The only personal information we collect on this website is what you voluntarily submit through our contact form. This includes:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your organization name (optional)
  • The message you write to us
  • The language of your submission (English or French)

We do not collect any other personal information. We do not collect your IP address, device identifiers, browser fingerprints, or behavioural data.

4. Purpose of Collection

We collect this information solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not use it for marketing, profiling, or any purpose other than replying to your message.

5. Consent

By submitting the contact form, you consent to us using your name and email address to respond to your inquiry. Submission is entirely voluntary. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us and requesting that we delete your inquiry.

6. Data Minimization

We collect only the information necessary to respond to your inquiry. Organization name is optional. We do not ask for phone numbers, mailing addresses, or any other personal details unless you choose to include them in your message.

7. Our Approach to Data

MyWaypoint Technologies Inc. is not a data broker, advertising network, consumer analytics platform, or personal information marketplace.

Our business is built around websites, digital services, education, governance, and data-related consulting. While some of our work involves helping organizations understand and manage information responsibly, we do not build our business around the collection, monetization, or sale of personal information.

As part of our commitment to privacy-first practices:

  • We do not buy or sell personal information.
  • We do not harvest personal data from websites or online services.
  • We do not create behavioural profiles of visitors.
  • We do not use personal information for advertising purposes.
  • We do not operate advertising technology platforms.
  • We do not share personal information with data brokers or marketing networks.
  • We do not collect personal information unless it is voluntarily provided and genuinely required for a specific business purpose.

Whenever practical, we actively design our services, solutions, datasets, and workflows to avoid the use of personal information altogether.

Our preference is to work with public, anonymized, aggregated, organizational, geographic, operational, or other non-personal data sources whenever possible.

We believe responsible data practices begin with collecting the minimum amount of information necessary. In many cases, the best way to protect personal information is not to collect it in the first place.

Privacy by Design

Our preferred solution is often the one that requires the least amount of personal information.

Where practical, MyWaypoint Technologies designs services, tools, datasets, and workflows that minimize or eliminate the need to collect personal data altogether.

Just because information can be collected does not mean it should be.

8. Email Delivery and Processing

When you submit the contact form, your message is transmitted to us via Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically through AWS API Gateway, AWS Lambda, and Amazon Simple Email Service (SES). These services process your submission in order to deliver it to our business inbox. AWS is a service provider acting on our behalf and is not permitted to use your information for its own purposes.

Amazon SES may process your submission through AWS infrastructure. AWS data centres used for this service are located in Canada (ca-central-1 region) where technically feasible. However, we cannot guarantee that all processing occurs exclusively within Canada, as AWS infrastructure may involve cross-border data flows. We have selected Canadian-region services where available to minimize cross-border transfers.

9. Retention of Inquiries

We retain your inquiry in our business email inbox for as long as is reasonably necessary to respond to and follow up on your request. We do not maintain a separate database of contact form submissions. When an inquiry is no longer needed, it is deleted from our inbox in the ordinary course of email management. We do not have a formal retention schedule beyond this practice.

10. Service Providers

The only third-party service involved in processing contact form submissions is Amazon Web Services (AWS). We do not share your information with any other third parties. We do not use marketing platforms, CRM systems, or data brokers.

11. Canadian and Cross-Border Processing

MyWaypoint Technologies Inc. is a Canadian company and we operate under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation. We have selected AWS infrastructure in the Canada (Central) region where available. As noted in Section 8, some cross-border processing may occur as part of AWS infrastructure operations. By submitting the contact form, you acknowledge this possibility.

12. Security Safeguards

We use HTTPS for all data transmission. Contact form submissions are transmitted over encrypted connections. AWS services used in our contact form infrastructure include standard AWS security controls. We take reasonable precautions to protect your information, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Cookies

This website does not use cookies of any kind — not session cookies, persistent cookies, analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any other type. No cookie consent banner is shown because no cookies are set.

14. Analytics

This website does not use any web analytics service. We do not use Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Matomo, or any equivalent tool. We do not collect page view data, session data, or visitor statistics through this website.

15. Advertising

This website does not display advertising and does not use any advertising technology, ad networks, or programmatic advertising platforms.

16. Tracking Pixels

This website does not use tracking pixels, web beacons, or any equivalent technology from any third party.

17. Browser Storage

This website does not use localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, or any other form of browser-side storage. No data is written to your browser by this website.

18. External Links

This website contains links to our ecosystem partner websites and to external resources. When you follow a link to another website, that website's own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites.

19. Access and Correction

You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, and to request correction of any inaccuracies. To make such a request, please contact us using the contact form or the email address in Section 20. We will respond within a reasonable time.

20. Withdrawal of Consent

You may withdraw your consent to our use of your personal information at any time by contacting us. If you withdraw consent, we will delete your inquiry from our records to the extent reasonably practicable. Note that withdrawal of consent may mean we are unable to respond to your inquiry if it is still in progress.

21. Privacy Questions or Complaints

If you have questions about this policy or a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us through the contact form on this website. We take privacy concerns seriously and will respond promptly.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at www.priv.gc.ca.

22. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

23. Effective Date

This Privacy Policy is effective as of June 2025.
